What is summer reading?

A free 5-week program (July 3-August 1) at the Newbury Public Library that encourages children in grades K-5 to read throughout the summer.

What is this year’s theme?

This year’s summer reading theme is: “Libraries rock!” and is centered around music, geology, and archeology.

How do I earn prizes?

To earn a prize, bring in your reading log every week and show us what you’ve accomplished! One raffle ticket will be given for every 30 minutes of reading.

Weekly drawings will be held after the summer event on Wednesday. While you don’t have to be present to win, if you are you will get first dibs on the prizes offered. Once you win a weekly prize, you are no longer eligible for another weekly prize.

BUT KEEP READING! As any raffle tickets accumulated over the entire 5-week period will go into the GRAND PRIZE raffle to be drawn on AUGUST 1 at the Mount Sunapee Adventure Park celebration event.

How do I sign up?

Visit the Newbury Public Library to pick up a packet, which will include reading logs and a flyer with our schedule of summer events.
