Welcome to the Newbury Public Library Summer Reading Program!
Want to join in our Summer Reading Challenge? The Newbury Library is running a free 6-week program, from July 5 – August 15, that encourages children in grades K-5, as well as teens in grades 6-8 and 9-12, respectively, to read throughout the summer.
Visit the Newbury Public Library on Sunday, July 5 to pick up a packet of reading logs for the entire 6-week program. If you can’t make it on the start date, don’t worry! Packets can be picked up anytime throughout the six weeks.
To enter into the raffle, all you have to do is drop off your completed reading log each week in our library book drop. Weeks will start on Sunday and end on Saturday (i.e. July 5 – July 11; July 12 -July 18), but you are welcome to drop off your log at any point during the week.
Your log will show us what you have accomplished and earn you raffle tickets each week! One raffle ticket will be given for every 30 minutes of reading during that week. Be sure to write your full name and telephone number on your log each week so we know who to give raffle tickets to for all that hard work!
Prizes will be awarded to a participant in each of the following grade levels: K-1; 2-3; 4-5; 6-8; 9-12. Winners will be chosen at random. Prizes to be awarded will be $25 gift certificates from various local businesses, such as: Marzelli’s Deli, Newbury Palace Pizza, the Tackle Shack, Bubba’s Bar and Grille, and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Those who participate in the summer reading program will also be entered for a chance to receive a recently released book from Morgan Hill Bookstore. One book will be given to a participant in each of the grouped grade levels listed above – 5 book prizes total.
There will be no weekly prizes this year, which is why our prizes are bigger and better than ever!
In addition to the Summer Reading Program, there will also be Make & Take craft bags each week that include fun activities for all age groups. There will be a different theme each week, and activities will vary from week to week. These bags can be picked up at the library. Visit the pages below to access some of the activities in the kits.
