Any patron may request to borrow materials not available in the library’s collection – items must be older than six months to request. The library will promptly attempt to borrow first from any lending library inside the state, but, if the material is not available in-state, then from outside the state, except that non-print materials will not be requested from out-of-state. The Library will attempt to borrow from libraries that do not charge fees, and will request notification of fees from lending libraries before materials are shipped. When fees are unavoidable, patrons will be given the option of paying the fees or canceling the requests. Once a request is placed, loans typically take a week to be delivered to the library. The library will contact you when your item arrives.
Run by the New Hampshire State Library, the NH State Library’s InterLibrary Loan catalog contains complete holdings and information for New Hampshire libraries. It serves as a useful tool for interlibrary loans, and patrons are welcome to search NHAIS-ILL for materials they may want the librarian to order for them.
