Library Membership
Any Newbury or Bradford resident or property owner is welcome to sign up for a library card – proof of residency is required, as well as filling out a short form. Children who are not from Newbury or Bradford, but are part of the Kearsarge school district, and anyone employed in Newbury may also apply for a card and borrow materials. Only Newbury residents get digital borrowing privileges.
For non-residents and summer renters, we offer a two-month membership for $10 (with a 5 item checkout limit) or a year membership for $30. Non-residents and summer memberships do not get digital borrowing privileges. For our membership policies, or any other library policy, please refer to this page.
Library Collection
Our collection consists of adult, young adult, juvenile and children’s books, including fiction/non-fiction, large print, and audio books. We also lend DVDs, CD players, museum passes, craft kits, microscopes, games and more. Click here for our digital offerings.
All materials circulate for a three-week period. If you need more time and the item is not on hold for another patron, call the library for a renewal.
We have a limit of 5 DVDs you can check out at one time, as this is a popular collection.
Fines & Fees
The library does not have overdue fines or fees. If a book is lost or is significantly damaged, the library will require a suitable replacement or money to cover the cost of the item. The library will do their best to find the cheapest replacement for the item. The library accepts cash or check for lost items.
Any patron may request to borrow materials not available in the library’s collection – items must be older than six months to request. The library will promptly attempt to borrow first from any lending library inside the state, but, if the material is not available in-state, then from outside the state, except that non-print materials will not be requested from out-of-state. The Library will attempt to borrow from libraries that do not charge fees, and will request notification of fees from lending libraries before materials are shipped. When fees are unavoidable, patrons will be given the option of paying the fees or canceling the requests. Once a request is placed, loans typically take a week to be delivered to the library. The library will contact you when your item arrives.
Run by the New Hampshire State Library, the NH State Library’s InterLibrary Loan catalog contains complete holdings and information for New Hampshire libraries. It serves as a useful tool for interlibrary loans, and patrons are welcome to search NHAIS-ILL for materials they may want the librarian to order for them.
